We recently organised a panel discussion with the Harvard Business School Alumni Angels of London titled Navigating the Economics and Landscape of AI.  The evening was moderated by Kenneth Cukier, senior editor for digital at The Economist and coauthor of the widely acclaimed “Big Data: A Revolution that Transforms How We Work, Live and Think.” He was joined by an esteemed panel of entrepreneurs, investors and advisors who are active in the AI space including Charles Muirhead, the CEO and founder of CognitionX - a leading community and search engine for AI, Michiel Kotting, a partner at Northzone VC who directs their AI investments, Andrei Brasoveanu who leads AI investments at Accel in Europe, and Alex Housley the Founder and CEO of Seldon which is establishing a new open standard for predictive AI.

The discussion drew on the practical experience of the panelists to examine questions such as:

•      Why is AI so hot now?  What has been the catalyst for this seeming frenzy? •      How can the the landscape of AI activity be better understood? •      What is London and the UK’s role in the global AI race? •      How is AI impacting businesses today?  What are the use cases?  The ROI? •      What are different business models for AI companies? •      Who is making money in AI today? •      What will be the opportunities for AI tomorrow?
